Yes, camping is available. We have 30 camping sites (primitive, dry camping, no electric, water or sewer hook-ups). These sites are located on lower Third Street and near the Williamstown Bridge. These sites are on a first come, first served basis. Campers arrive may Thursday at 6:00 p.m. and need to be gone by Sunday at 6:00 p.m. Camping costs $75 for the three days.
Do you have emergency first aid?
Yes, we have emergency first aid available. The Washington County chapter of The American Red Cross has a first aid trailer located beside the Discount Signs Co. (near the port-a-johns). The Marietta Fire Department is also available for transport to local hospitals.
Is there handicap parking available along with regular parking?
Yes, we have handicap parking on Second and Greene Streets (J.D. Byrider lot). Handicap parking is FREE and is on a first come, first served basis. The regular parking is available on Second Street and Greene Street between Second and Third Streets. This parking is for Friday and Saturday ONLY and is $5 per car.
Are you having fireworks?
Fireworks will be on Saturday evening beginning at 9:30 p.m. from barges in the river. Every five years we try to do something special from the Williamstown Bridge. This year, 2010, we are trying to do some fireworks off of the bridge (providing we get enough funding to do so).
Will there be any food available at the Festival?
We will have more than 30 food vendors on Greene Street and lower Second Street. We will have a wide variety of food and non-alcoholic drinks available for all of our visitors.
Will you have boat-docking space?
Each year we have between 30-40 sternwheel boats tied up at the Marietta Levee. There usually is NOT any space available for pleasure boats.
Will you have a car show this year?
Yes, our car show will be on Sunday from 8:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. This car show will be on Second Street and Greene Street. We expect an excess of more than 300 antique cars, trucks, and motorcycles.
Are there activities for children?
Our children's activities will be on Saturday afternoon from 1:00 p.m.- 3:00 p.m. at the gazebo on Ohio Street (between Second and Third Street). There will be face painting, games and a whole lot of fun for the children.
What type of entertainment will there be?
All of the entertainment will take place on the entertainment barge. There will be a wide variety of music from old time rock-n-roll, country, and blue grass to gospel.
Is there a shuttle bus?
The shuttle bus will be available Friday from 5:00 p.m. to midnight, Saturday from 10 a.m. to midnight and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. You will need to park t the Washington County Fairgrounds and the shuttle will stop at Front and Monroe Streets (1/2 a block from the festival). The shuttle will run on the half hour.
Will we be able to bring lawn chairs and blankets?
Yes, you may bring lawn chairs and blankets to the festival. Please do NOT leave them unattended at any time during the festival. The festival committee will NOT be held responsible for your belongings. Please take your lawn chairs and blankets with you at the end of each day’s activities to allow us to clean the area. If you leave them, we will remove them for you and place them in a pile on the levee.
Is alcohol available?
No alcoholic beverages will be permitted within the festival grounds. There are several restaurants within walking distance that serve legal alcoholic beverages.
Are there any hotels or motels available?
There are several hotels and motels within the Marietta area. Some are within walking distance and others are about a mile from the events. You will need to contact them for availability of rooms.
Are pets allowed at the Sternwheel Festival?
Pets are not allowed within the perimeter of the Sternwheel Festival.
